TV Trailer: The Walking Dead season 8

THE Walking Dead has just released a stunning five-minute trailer for season eight and it promises to blow our minds — and possibly end the TV series.

The trailer, released at San Diego Comic Con overnight features some absolutely stunning sequences.

We have all the leaders — Negan, Rick, Maggie and Ezekiel — revving up their troops.

There are humans versus humans battles and a whole host of Walkers. More Walkers than the eye can see.

Negan will be all guns blazing in the new season.

Even spread out over 16 episodes, this is All Out War as the comics portrayed it.

This looks like the best season to date.

It has everything, including Shiva the tiger getting the claws bloody.

But the last 30 seconds of the trailer is the one that will blow the minds of fans.

We get a shot of a walking stick and then it cuts to a vase of beautiful flowers — and then Rick, aged by about 30 years, lying in a hospital bed.

So is it a dream sequence? Is it suggesting that there will be a time jump at some stage? Is it suggesting that the last seven-plus seasons will all have been a dream and Rick is going to wake up from his coma after being shot by those criminals back in episode one to find Carl and Lori there?

It could be a throwaway sequence somewhere or it could be the ending of it all. We don’t know and that’s what is going to haunt us until it returns.

Foxtel’s FX Channel will screen The Walking Dead season eight from Monday October 23.
