FEAR The Walking Dead returns on Monday, promising plenty of intrigue and lashings of zombies.

The second half of season three kicks off with a double episode from 1.45pm on Foxtel’s FX Channel — and there’s plenty to get through.

If you haven’t caught up with the series yet don’t despair, there’s still plenty of time. Go and see it now, before we spoil it as we consider a whole series of questions that need to be answered.

But don’t expect them all to be resolved. It’s been renewed for a fourth season.

When we left the characters last, Madison Clark has just cut off the head of Jeremiah Otto and delivered it to Walker to call off the looming war between the inhabitants of Broke Jaw Ranch and the Nation, which included Ofelia as Walker’s love.

Daniel, meanwhile, had saved Lola and Strand by shooting dead Dante and his goons but then left Strand to get eaten when he discovered that his daughter Ofelia was not in the hotel, as promised, and in fact the hotel had been overrun by zombies.

Strand had escaped the hotel and was discovering that the whole world was infected and that zombies don’t make good boat captains, as he saw what they did to the Abigail.

So, at the ranch we know that Madison has basically taken over, even if she pretends that Troy and Jake Otto are still running the show.

Qaletaqa Walker will join the ranch — much to the disgust of the ranchers.

How will they go integrating Walker and his Native American Nation with the Doomsday Preppers on the ranch (who tend to be racist at the best of times)?

What will Daniel do with the dam? Dante was running it with a gang of gunmen, demanding payment for any water. Lola and her offsider Efrain — the bloke who saved Daniel — are likely to run it very differently. Daniel is probably going to be called upon to be very violent to help them, given that there are still plenty of gangs with guns roaming around.

Efrain and Lola will take over the dam, with the help of Daniel Salazar.

What about Strand? What will he do? He knows all about the dam. It appears to be setting it up that he will tell Madison about all this water — right at a time when the ranch is suffering drought.

If Walker and Ofelia join the rush to get their hands on the water, that will bring her into contact with her dad. He didn’t even like her to date. What will he think of her new lover?

And what of Luciana, Nick’s lover who walked away from the ranch because of the racist Ottos? She was too interesting a character to disappear. Surely she is going to return to play some important role, especially given she was a leader of a community before the Troys captured her and Nick.

Victor Strand is sure to cause trouble.

Best of all, we can look forward to stacks of zombies. The first half of the season was short of the hungry devils. This half promises far more.
