The Walking Dead: Who’s going to die when the bullets start to fly?

It’s been a long time coming but the war with Negan is finally ready to start. Season seven started with brutal deaths of two of the heroes and it will end with the death of at least one more ...

The Walking Dead S7E16: Season Finale Preview

FINALLY, after some strange detours and a very roundabout route, it’s time to go to war with Negan on The Walking Dead.

We know at least one of our heroes is about to die and we can also expect a few more surprises before the controversial season seven is over.

This season, particularly the first half, has attracted more negative comment than anything since season two, when the gang got stuck on Hershel’s farm like a Walker in the mud. But, once it’s over, I think fans will look back on it with a great deal more appreciation. it has certainly marked a turning point in the series and we can look forward to season eight in October with great anticipation.

But first things first, the All Out War has to kick off and there are a few key questions to be answered.

Will Sasha survive the season seven finale?
Will Sasha survive the season seven finale?

Foremost among these is what will happen to Sasha? She is at the mercy of Negan but has a suicide pill. From the promo, it appears she will be used as a bargaining piece. Without giving too much away, fans of Fear The Walking Dead might well recognise the scenario here, with a “hostage” being handed back with a bag over their head ...

Then we have Gregory, last seen heading off to Simon to report that the peasants are revolting. Is he the mystery “birdie” that Negan spoke about in Episode 15, who tipped off the Saviors that Rick was up to no good?

Some fan sites have suggested it is Eugene that has gone full traitor but it was his kidnapping (and Olivia’s death) that triggered Rick’s rebellion. Eugene doesn’t know what the Alexandrians are up to because he’s been with Negan since then.

Or, and this could blow people’s minds, are Jadis and the Junkyard Bunch a pack of Saviors in disguise? Are they feeding information back to Negan? That could make for an intriguing plot development.

After all, as it stands, we have Alexandria, The Hilltop and The Kingdom, plus the Junkyarders and probably Oceanside lined up against Negan. As powerful as Negan is, he can’t defend against that many attacks from that many different directions. Having the Junkyarders either as secret Saviors or turncoats would keep the war going longer.

We also need to see what will happen with Dwight and how his turning traitor will help Rick — and how Eugene will react to war breaking out.

In the comics, Maggie and the Hilltoppers arrive to save Rick. Will that happen in the TV series?

Finally we see Morgan in the armour of a knight and the Kingdom ready to fight. Hopefully this means we see Shiva the tiger getting ready to rip some Saviors.

Don’t forget that there are plenty of Savior groups out there, not just the main one run by Negan. There’s Gavin’s mob that need killing, as well as the other outposts.

This war will be far bigger than anything The Walking Dead has tried before. Can’t wait!
