Preview reveals a massive twist for Game Of Thrones’ next episode

The 30-second preview of Eastwatch, the next episode of Game Of Thrones, offers us a tantalising glimpse of what looks like a massive twist coming, as the humans unite to take on the White Walkers.

Game of Thrones - Season 7 Ep 5 Preview

THE preview video for “Eastwatch”, episode five of Game Of Thrones, tells us the next show is going to be full of action — but it’s the things it leaves out that suggest there is a massive twist coming.

Here come the spoiler alerts — but remember, this is all just speculation, albeit based on the preview video!

We know that Dany and Drogon are going to look magnificent.
We know that Dany and Drogon are going to look magnificent.

So, here’s the definite stuff.

We know that Daenerys completes her victory over the Lannisters. Basically, nobody gets away, because the Dothraki and Drogon round them up. Dany offers them a choice — join her or die. Not much of a choice but it means that Cersei has no army now.

We also know that Tyrion is drinking again, Varys is offering a word of caution to Tyrion, Jon is now giving Dany advice in her strategy meetings, that Cersei still looks defiant — and that the Night King is on the march and Bran has stopped making friends cry and is finally doing some useful warging.

I see dead people ... a whole bloody army of them, marching at us!

That, by itself, is all fascinating.

But let’s take a closer look at some of the scenes.

Tyrion is by Dany’s side at the battle. We also see him talking with Varys, who tells him: “You need to find a way to make her listen”. However, we don’t see him around the table with Dany and Jon Snow, even though Varys is there. So where is he? He’s her Hand and needs to be there, even if his advice so far has been silly.

Varys and Tyrion are chatting in Dragonstone.

But is Varys talking about Dany — or Cersei?
But is Varys talking about Dany — or Cersei?

So, was Varys talking about Tyrion advising Dany? That seems plausible. But what if he was talking about Cersei, instead?

We’re pretty sure that Jaime didn’t die. Either Bronn, Tyrion or even Dany pulled him out of the water. Obviously he doesn’t escape, so what do they do with him?

We hear Jon saying: “Bran saw the Night King and his army marching towards Eastwatch”.

Put those together with the quick shot of Cersei and Qyburn huddled together and there is the distinct possibility that Jon has pushed Dany into making some sort of deal with Cersei.

Jon Snow’s chatting strategy with Dany — but where is Tyrion? Off to King’s Landing?

And who better to do that deal than Tyrion Lannister as her Hand and chief negotiator, with Jaime Lannister as a prisoner and bargaining chip?

Then the words of Varys to Tyrion: “You need to find a way to make her listen” take on a different meaning.

Let’s not forget that, while Cersei hates Tyrion for “killing” Joffre, Jaime now knows the truth, that Tyrion is innocent and it was Lady Olenna that killed her son.

The carvings by the Children Of The Forest showed former enemies coming together to fight the White Walkers. Surely that is a hint for the future.

Would Cersei forgive Tyrion, if she knows he didn’t kill Joffre?

The amount of time the preview spent showing the Night King’s army has to be significant, as is the episode title.

Remember, we only have three more episode of this season to go.

We know from the earlier trailers that Jon has to get north and fight some White Walkers. He doesn’t have much time left to do it. It has to happen soon ...
