Game Of Thrones finally releases date for season seven premiere
At long last, HBO has told us when Game Of Thrones will return to our screens for the long-awaited season seven. And the show will literally be coming in winter (for Australia).
THE wait is over and we can finally say Game Of Thrones is coming in winter (for Australia) after HBO finally revealed the premiere date for season seven.
Of course, being Game Of Thrones, they stuck the date inside a block of ice and then made fans watch it melt live on Facebook for an hour until the date of July 16, 2017 was revealed.
Of course, given the time zone differences, this means we’ll be watching it on Monday July 17, either simultaneously around 1.30pm or on delay in prime time at 7.30pm.
The old April screen time was thrown out the window because the new season is filmed in “winter” and they had to wait until their European locations turned, well, wintry.
Unlike the usual 10-episode season, this season will be just seven episodes. However, the strong suggestion is they will each be about an hour long — equivalent to the usual finale episodes — rather than the usual 45 minutes.
We already know there are going to be plenty of shocks and deaths in this series although, hopefully, no more Starks will die.
The “trailer” for the new season released along with the premiere date offered us no actual footage but instead a montage of the various House sigils — dragons, wolves, stags etc — carved in stone. The camera pans around them lovingly before they implode, which pretty much tells us what’s going to happen in the next couple of seasons.
Finally it ends with Jon Snow saying: “There is only one war that matters. The Great War. And it is here.”
Well, in about 18 weeks it will be here, exclusively on Foxtel.
