Does Game Of Thrones prophecy prove Jaime Lannister is still alive?

THERE seems no way that Jaime Lannister could have survived the final moments of Game Of Thrones Episode 4. But, as a secret prophecy reveals, he cannot die yet. There’s more things he has to do.

THE last we saw of Jaime Lannister, he was spiralling down towards a watery grave — but he has to come back to life in the next episode.

It does seem bizarre a show that made its name for not being afraid to kill characters went out of its way to keep Jaime Lannister alive.

Realistically, he should be dead.

Hot enough for you? Drogon turns up the heat on the Lannisters.

A blast of superheated dragon fire that close would have sucked all the oxygen from the air — let’s not forget it’s hot enough to melt stone and turn men to ash.

So he goes into the water without even the benefit of one last lungful of air. Then he is clad in not just a bit of armour but loads of heavy ornamental armour — and he only has one hand to get it off.

Leaving aside that he fell into the side of the lake, which surely can’t be tens of metres deep, he was seen heading for the lake floor.

By all rights, he should be dead. But he can’t die, not yet. There’s too many important things he needs to do.

Let’s not forget he needs to tell Cersei that it was Olenna Tyrell, not Tyrion, that killed Joffre.

And then there’s the prophecy of the Valonqar. Basically that means that Cersei is doomed to be killed by her younger brother. She thinks it means Tyrion but she and Jaime have such a complicated relationship that surely it has to be him.

If Bronn ends up giving Jaime the kiss of life, he’s going to want more money.

After all, he killed the Mad King for threatening to blow up King’s Landing with Wildfire. Cersei actually has blown up much of King’s landing with Wildfire.

Anyway, there’s plenty of ways he could survive — and they don’t even involve Brienne riding to the rescue and giving him mouth-to-mouth, much as fans want to see that.

Bronn went into the water with him, and could pull him out.

Tyrion watched his last ride and owes his big brother for getting him out of that cell when their dad planned to kill him.

And then there’s Daenerys and Drogon. She clearly saw who was charging at her and would know very well what a bargaining chip Cersei’s beloved brother would be.

And that is the real reason he has to live.

Dany is starting to realise the real enemy is the White Walkers. Now she and the Dothraki (with plenty of help from Drogon) have slaughtered the Lannister and Tarly armies, Cersei is helpless.

With Jaime as a bargaining chip, she could be dragged to the table.

Daenerys and Jon Snow are going to want to force Cersei to talk. Jaime could be the key.

Of course we know that Cersei will plan to betray them and has no intention of keeping a promise. But Dany and Jon are probably going to try.

Jaime is the key to that.

There’s too much unfinished business for him to die. Yet.
