Are we about to see a major character die in Walking Dead?

EPISODE PREVIEW The Walking Dead Season 8 Episode 7 video teases the death of a major character.

The first half of The Walking Dead Season 8 is literally heading for an explosive finish — but will it also see the death of a major character?

The preview video for the penultimate episode of this half of the season offers a tantalising glimpse of action to come — and deadly trouble for three heroes.

First we have Rick, dragged out of his shipping container and stripped to his boxers. Given Jadis and her mates like to do metalwork in the buff, it seems unlikely that they would leave him his boxers for what looks like an upcoming gladiatorial contest.

However, we know that Rick is unstoppable. And that last time the Junkyard Bunch got him to fight Wilmslow the armoured zombie, he won and also (seemingly) won the support of the Junkyard Bunch.

So can he win them over again? Or will this see Rick handed over to some Saviours?

Then we see more trouble at the Sanctuary, where Dwight and Eugene are certainly talking. But will Eugene step up and rescue Father Gabriel? Someone puts a gun to the back of his head. Is it Negan playing games or will Eugene heroically sacrifice himself in an act of redemption?

Then there’s Daryl and his mission to end the war by blowing a hole in the Sanctuary and letting the Walkers go in and kill everything.

With nine episodes still to go, that can’t happen.

But what will derail it?

Well, there’s the wild card — Morgan.

We see him shooting like a sniper but we don’t know who he is aiming at.

Then there is the other wild card, in that Lennie James was announced as the character who will make the jump across to sister show Fear The Walking Dead.

Morgan is about to get into the action. But will he also be killed?

So does that mean he has to die in The Walking Dead first? Otherwise we are likely to see the survivors of FTWD making their way over to the parent show in another season or two.

What is not clear is how Morgan can do this. He appeared in season one then vanished until season three and then disappeared again until season five.

But, according to TWD, he spent most of that time insane and killing anyone and anything he came across.

Quite how that allows him to make a rational appearance in FTWD is a bit doubtful.

Anyway, we shall soon find out ...
