A LeBron James style chasedown block leads our Queensland State League plays of the week for round four with high-flying dunks, game-tying shots and more featured in the latest highlights. WATCH THE TOP PLAYS HERE.

QSL Top Plays - Round 4

A chasedown block that NBA superstar LeBron James would be proud of leads our top plays from round four of the Queensland State League as the competition starts to heat up.

We’re almost halfway through the revamped competition and while well-known talents, who play their trade in the NBL as well as leagues overseas, continue to give the fans a spectacle – some little-known players are also showcasing their skills on the big stage.

While another defensive play takes the top spot this week, the rest of our plays include everything from a game-tying three-pointer, a high-flying dunk from a Brisbane Bullets star, a dynamic drive from an NBL big man and a tricky display from a Sunshine Coast star.

Here are our top five plays from Round 4:

1. Merveil Nkongolo – RedCity Roar

– Getting some court time with teammates Verle Williams Jr and Heath Gameren missing through injury, RedCity’s Merveil Nkongolo made his short time on the floor count. After Brisbane Bullets and Southern Districts star Tamuri Wigness started a fast break by nutmegging Harry Froling, the Spartans looked destined to make a highlight play of their own. But unfortunately for them, Nkongolo didn’t give up and chased down Spartan Kon Anguik for a spectacular rejection to take top spot on our plays of the week.

2. Nathan Sobey – Ipswich Force

– Southeast Queensland basketball fans continue to be treated to some spectacular play from some NBL talents, who are preparing for the upcoming season by playing in the QSL. One of those talents is Boomer and Bullets guard Nathan Sobey who provided another highlight play on Saturday in Ipswich’s nailbiting two-point victory over Logan, cutting backdoor in the third quarter for this high-flying two-hand jam.

3. Chris Cedar – Logan Thunder

– The Ipswich Force seemed like they were going to run away with a double-digit victory against the Logan Thunder on Saturday night but that was before former NBL player Chris Cedar flicked the switch. The former Townsville Crocodile hit four, three-pointers in the fourth quarter, including this shot off the backboard to tie the game up with 14 seconds left. The Thunder would go on to lose 86-84.

4. Harry Froling – RedCity Roar

– One of the new Brisbane Bullets recruits, Harry Froling starred in the Roar’s big victory over the Southern Districts, scoring 40 points against a team with several other NBL talents. However, it was his first half that was most impressive, including a 17-point first quarter. He hit several bombs from beyond the arc but it was a drive to the basket, where he finished the layup with a foul that makes this week’s top plays.

5. Jamaal Robateau – Sunshine Coast Phoenix

– The Sunshine Coast Phoenix started the season in dominant fashion with three-straight victories but that came to a halt on Saturday night after a loss to the Gold Coast Rollers. However, Sunshine Coast fans didn’t go without any highlights as guard Jamaal Robateau makes the list for the second week in a row, taking the ball around his back in traffic and finishing the basket in transition.
