Ipswich SHS put on a second-half clinic to run away with a convincing 46-4 victory over Mabel Park SHS in their round two Langer Cup clash at North Ipswich Reserve.
Ipswich put on 34 unanswered points in the second half, including two barnstorming runs from prop Loko Tonga, while Tommy Luhrman also dominated from dummy half to hand his team a 42-point victory.
Both teams went into the match on the back of impressive wins in their cup openers and Mabel Park came out, forcing an early knock on from Ipswich and converting that into a try from centre Elijah Makaio to take a 4-0 lead after six minutes.
But a double to Ipswich five-eighth James Frazer, which included a duck in from dummy half, changed the momentum of the game with the playmaker converting both tries for the home side to ;ead 12-4 at halftime.
From there, Ipswich just continued to build on their finish to the first half as winger Trey Fotu proved difficult to stop for Mabel Park as he made one linebreak, which ended up in a knock-on, before crossing the line off a set play from a scrum.
Ipswich utility Gabriel Satrick arguably put on the best try off the game, providing some fancy footwork to dance his way through the Mabel Park defence to put his team up 24-4.
The flood gates opened from there and while Mabel Park had one opportunity that went begging at the try line, their task became even tougher after one player was sent to the sinbin for a high tackle.
In the closing stages, a double to Tonga and tries to fullback Tyler Peckham-Harris and winger Kulu Baruani helped Ipswich finish the game in dominant fashion.
Ipswich SHS 46 (Tries; Loko Tonga and James Frazer 2, Gabriel Satrick, Tyler Peckham-Harris, Kulu Baruani, Trey Fotu. James Frazer 6/8 conversions) def Mabel Park SHS 4 (Tries; Elijah Makaio)
Mabel Park SHS dominated the Walters Cup (Year 10) clash with a 28-4 win over Ipswich SHS.
