The Langer Trophy rolls into round six this week featuring three derby blockbusters on the Coast, in Logan and at Redcliffe.
On Tuesday the www.couriermail.com.au will live stream via KommunityTV the Pizzey Park classic between Palm Beach Currumbin and Keebra Park - in both Langer and Walters Cup action.
Then on Wednesday, Marsden SHS host Mabel Park SHS while Wavell SHS travel to Redcliffe. Also on Wednesday Ipswich host Caloundra SHS.
Featured will be the competition’s most improved players featured here.

Redcliffe SHS
Aleki Schuster and Henry Sologinkin: The Redcliffe SHS forwards will be in good hands next season after the stoic efforts of Year 11 front rowers Schuster and Sologinkin this season,
“Both have worked hard and are continually looking for ways to improve their game,’’ said Redcliffe coach Jay Wilkinson.

“Both have had a great season and we are excited to see the growth in them for next year as well.
Keebra Park SHS:
JEREMIAH HAVEA: The winger played in Keebra’s Cs (Titans Cup) last year as a back rower, and earlier this year played his way into the South Coast open A team on the back of a really strong season for Wynnum Manly (Meninga Cup). “He has improved out of sight,’’ said coach Peter Norman.
Jack Hudson: Hudson is another who gained experience in senior football playing in the Titans Cup as a dummy half, but was “doing a great job for us since moving from No.9 to No.6,’’ according to Norman.
“Jack would be one of the stronger defensive halves in the comp after all those years playing through the middle.’’
Palm Beach Currumbin SHS
Sunny Kama: He made our 2022 Walters Cup Team of the Season squad and the youngster has pushed on in 2023 to be his team’s most improved Langer player. Kama is a powerful winger who isn’t afraid of doing the tough stuff coming out of trouble. “He has really shown he can play at this elite level,’’ said his coach Tim Maccan. “His strong carries start our sets going forward and his defence on his edge has been rock solid. He works really hard to do his job for the team and respond really well to the coaching staff’s feedback.’’
Jett Jackson: The prop had a good campaign for Tweed Seagulls in the Meninga Cup and is again churning away after playing every game last year. “He is a leader for us,’’ said PBC SHS coach Tim Maccan.
Ipswich SHS
Iosefa Kolio: “He is someone who has made massive improvements,’’ said Ipswich SHS coach Joshua Bretherton. “He is working so hard and has made some awesome steps.
“He played reserve grade last year, and moved to Langer Trophy this year. Iosefa has gotten better with each week. He improves constantly because he is always asking for feedback and wants to get better.’’
Wavell SHS
Kobi Floro: A giant young prop, he’s found a really consistent and important role in this team. “He has taken his opportunity to play Langer with both hands and has been giving us impact off the bench,’’ said coach Paul Stanley.
Carlos Ka: Ka scored possibly the try of the season last Wednesday against Keebra Park when, from the night sky, he plucked a ball out of the air to score from a Zac Herdegan crosskick.
“Carlos’ performances in our seconds demanded selection in the Langer team. He gets through a lot of work in our exit sets and carries with speed and aggression,’’ said coach Stanley.
Maddox Goodwin: “He has developed into one of our most consistent and reliable performers,’’ Stanley said: “I know what I’m going to get from him every week and he just continues to get better. He’s always looking to improve and is very coachable.’’
Caloundra SHS
Brad Higgins: Edge forward Higgins has answered the call and risen with the class around him this season. He has been fixture in Caloundra SHS’s representative teams coming through the rugby league program and should be proud of his efforts this season.
Jack Philp: Halves partner Jack Philp has risen to the occasion and improved in every match this season, controlling and coordinating his side. With captain and halfback Tully McLellan picking up an injury after the opening three rounds, Philp has led from the front in both attack and defence for his side this season.
Teina Maoate: Has shown his class and ability at hooker this season, coming up against some powerful opposition forwards. Maoate trusts his instincts in attack and isn’t afraid to put his body on the line to make a solid chop tackle when needed. He has also stepped up in a big way since McLellan’s injury and has served as a focal point for his Caloundra forward pack.
Mabel Park SHS
Jaycob Kingston-Francis: “The centre has been outstanding for us this year after only playing one game of Langer off the bench last year,’’ said Mabel Park coach Ben Weston.
Harlem Tata-Paki: Tata-Paki has worked his way into a Langer starting spot this year
Marsden SHS
Kylem Vunipola: He was coming off a really good season with Wynnum-Manly in the Meninga Cup where he played centre, but he has made the No.1 jersey his own at Marsden SHS.
Lewis Symonds: Symonds was highly rated entering the season, but he has taken his game to another level. He was the most unlucky forward in the Langer Trophy not to play for the Queensland schoolboys.
Will Semu: Semu had a boom debut season as a Year 10 student in 2021, was quiet last year, but has been dynamic this season. So much so, the centre, winger or edge forward played his way into the Queensland schoolboys squad.
