The champions have been crowned following three days of junior football action with Gold Coast claiming the double in the girls divisions.
The grand finals brought an end to a huge Football Queensland Junior Cup carnival at Maroochydore as 1200 of the state’s best junior stars showed their class.
Gold Coast United walked away champions in the female divisions with wins over Brisbane City in the U13 girls gold cup and Lions FC in the U12 girls gold cup.
“The girls really showed their heart in this tournament and they completely deserved to get the win in the end,” Gold Coast united under-13 girls head coach Rio Darlaston said.
“We’ve had some tough games in this tournament which is a credit to all the teams in how they’ve played.”
In the male divisions, Rochedale Rovers saved their best football until the finals lifting the under-12 gold cup thanks to a win against Brisbane City.
Rochedale head coach Jose Salvo said he was extremely proud of how his side conducted themselves throughout the carnival.
“I think the junior cup is one of the best things that can happen in a weekend,” he said.
“The main thing is that it creates a good team bonding experience as they hang out and play together for the three days but the second part is implementing a results based system.
“Once we go back to club football it’s still about development, winning or losing doesn’t matter but in a competition like this it gives them a great introduction of what’s to come as they get older and the boys enjoyed it.”
The under-12 boys silver cup finished 2-2 between Gold Coast Knights and Olympic FC before Olympic snuck a crucial win on penalties.
General manager of the central coast conference Jordie Gerbes said she was proud of how the event
“These events are imperative to the development of our players, providing the opportunity to implement their training curriculum in a new environment, with teams from across the State celebrating together at Maroochydore each year,” she said.
“To see the expansion of the girls competition this year to two cups, under 12 and under 13, is a testament to clubs and regional academies’ commitment towards gender parity in our sport, and a celebration of the increased female participation from 2023 to 2024.”

Finals fever is about to hit the Football Queensland Junior Cup, but before the knockout stages get underway, teams will have one final shot at booking a semi-final spot.
The exclusive KommunityTV coverage of the FQ Junior Cup will expand to four fields on Tuesday’s finals day, ensuring fans don’t miss any of the four grand finals.
Brisbane City will be determined to book themselves a semi-finals berth, but more importantly finish the pool stage undefeated in the U12 boys gold cup.
The side will clash with a hungry Lions FC in the morning, with a chance to go to the top of Group A with a win.
The club’s Under-13 girls also have a chance to lock in their own finals berth in the morning when they clash with a winless Caboolture FC.
It is a similar story right across the Football Queensland Junior Cup with teams all vying for their chance to be part of the knockout stages.

Gold Coast Knights has shown its strength as a club, led by their Under-12 boys in the Silver Cup.
The Knights are undefeated on top of its group and have not conceded a goal across the opening two days of the tournament. The side’s only blemish was a 0-0 draw against FQ Wide Bay North Academy.
Two regional academy teams lead the way in Group A in the Under-12 girls gold cup with FQ Central Coast and FQ Far North and Gulf both sitting pretty at the top of the table with wins in every match.
