The event sold out last year, with 30,000 people taking part and more than $1.2m raised for Queensland charities and community groups – a fundraising record for Bridge to Brisbane.

The Sunday Mail editor Anna Caldwell said those keen to take part in the beloved Brisbane event should register early so they don’t miss out.

“The Sunday Mail Transurban Bridge to Brisbane is one of our city’s great community events, bringing together people of all abilities and aspirations,” Ms Caldwell said.

“We saw in 2023 just how important it is to the people of Queensland, with a sold-out event and more than $1.2m raised for over 300 local charities.”

“This year’s event promises to be even bigger and better.

“A special thank you to our longstanding strategic partners Transurban and Event Management Solutions Australia, and I look forward to another incredible year with the Bridge to Brisbane family in 2024.”

This year’s Bridge to Brisbane will be held on Sunday, September 8.

Elite runners take off in 2023 Bridge to Brisbane

The 10km course begins at the Murarrie end of the Gateway Bridge, crosses the Brisbane River to Eagle Farm and then travels along Kingsford Smith Drive to Newstead and Bowen Hills before finishing at Brisbane Showgrounds.

The short course has been extended by 500m to a 5km distance, starting at Hercules Park in Hamilton before winding along Kingsford Smith Drive, looping back through Bowen Hills and finishing at Brisbane Showgrounds’ festive Finish Village.

Transurban Queensland Group Executive Sue Johnson said Team Transurban was kicking off its training for this year’s event, with the hope of entering their largest team ever and raising much needed funds for Ronald McDonald House Charities SEQ.

“Every year we witness the incredible spirit of the Brisbane community as thousands of eager participants take on the iconic course, for charities closest to their hearts,” Ms Johnson said.

“We hope to see another sold-out crowd try to Beat the Bridge as they run, walk or roll over the 1.6km Gateway Bridge, taking in those incredible views of the city and the bay.

“The atmosphere is like nothing else and we can’t wait to be involved again in 2024 with colleagues, family and friends.”

All entrants receive a race T-shirt, race number, finisher’s medal and certificate, their race time and free public transport to and from the event.
