There’s the equine race which stops the nation on the first Tuesday in November and then there’s the famous two-legged variety which brings Brisbane to a standstill just weeks before.

And the latest edition hasn’t disappointed, with no less than 30,000 plus athletes pounding the pavement from the Gateway Bridge landmark to the Brisbane Showgrounds.

The Sunday Mail partnered with KommunityTV to bring a live stream of the iconic fun run, which this year tapped into the energy-sapping challenge for the 27th occasion.

First accross the line in the Sunday Mail/Transurban Bridge to Brisbane 10km fun run was now dual winner Tim Vincent, with Eloise Walling claiming the women’s division.

Vincent said post race that he was looking forward to having a beer to toast his latest achievement.

“Don’t worry, we will let loose with a few but then knuckle down with training again,” Vincent told The Courier-Mail.

Like most runners, Vincent claimed coming up Kingsford Smith Drive was mentally tough but he found something special within to push on for his second victory.

PREVIEW

For the first time, the Sunday Mail/Transurban Bridge to Brisbane is heading outside the city limits.

The Sunday Mail has partnered with KommunityTV to live stream the iconic fun run on Sunday, October 15 so you can see every runner cross the finish line.

Broadcast through couriermail.com.au, the live stream coverage will include a continuous feed of the finish line to capture the first runner across through to the last.

Into its 27th year of running, the annual long distance fun run includes two different distances, a 10km course which takes off from the base of the Gateway Bridge, and a 4.5km course which leaves from Hercules Park.

Both courses finish at the iconic Brisbane Showgrounds, where our cameras will be set up to capture the elation, exhaustion and everything in between.

A major fundraiser for charity, the 2023 event has already raised more than $500,000 for charity through more than 3000 donations.

Sunday Mail Editor Anna Caldwell said the Bridge to Brisbane was an event not to be missed.

“The Sunday Mail/Transurban Bridge to Brisbane is an iconic event that showcases the Queensland community spirit as well as our wonderful city.

“Watching more than 20,000 competitors running over the Gateway bridge is an incredible sight.

“I’m thrilled that this year we will be able to take the Bridge to Brisbane into people’s homes and on to their mobiles through our live stream so everyone can watch their loved ones crossing the finish line.’’
