Winner: Evie King, Evie King Fitness

“Evie genuinely cares about your fitness.”

That is the message from Ms King’s fitness community, who flooded Facebook with glowing endorsements of her method and demeanour.

“Evie King is the most dedicated PT I’ve ever worked with,” Em Neylan said.

“She not only caters for ever training need, she pushes herself in all her own fitness endeavours.

“Having first-hand experience makes the difference for her clients.”

Sarah Morcus said Ms King was “so dedicated and supportive”.

Emma Thompson said there is “no comparison”.

Despite only founding Evie King Fitness at the start of last year, it’s clear Ms King has already earnt herself a legion of devotees.

“My passion to become a PT was and is to empower women to love themselves and to truly nurture who they are inside and out,” Ms King said.

“I go above and beyond for my clients every day to help them really nurture their fitness, nutrition and mindset.”

As to any advice she would give to anyone thinking of starting their first session, she says to bite the bull and “just make that first appointment”.

“Once you conquer that first session you will feel amazing, empowered and on top of the world,” she said.

“If you prefer to go at it on your own at first – awesome.

“Again, get out there in nature, go for walks and be consistent in your chosen activity. “Consistency is absolutely key in this journey.”

First runner-up: Haaije Pijl, In Shape Outdoors

Haaije Pijl has been a PT / fitness coach for 27 years and is “still going strong” at age 48, in his words.

“I’ve always had a passion for sports and exercise in general, and love helping others reach their potential,” he said, noting he specialises in weight loss and body transformations.

“What sets me apart from other PTs is that I deliver what I promise and I go above and beyond for our members to make their experience one they can’t live without.

“When you join In Shape Outdoors you’re joining a family, which we call our ‘Fit Fam’.

“It’s not only about the workouts but more so about the community spirit.”

Mr Pijl said he is constantly upskilling to make sure he is at the cutting edge of developments in fitness, health science and teaching, to ensure he always gives his best to his clients.

And they came out in force online to support their trainer.

“We really do feel like a big family,” Lisa Sheridan said.

“It’s not about competing with the others, just trying to beat your previous efforts.”

Colleen Nuku said she has been with Mr Pijl for seven years and is “still going strong”.

“He’s the best trainer.”

Samarah Rane said Mr Pijl is “always welcoming and encouraging”.

“(She) is genuinely caring and super holistic when it comes to looking at health and wellness and will push you to achieve your goals and help make them long-lasting.”

Samantha Shaw said she’s “been training with Jo for years and hands down in my eyes (she is) the best trainer”.

“She is always so invested in you achieving your goals.”
