The biggest changes gyms will make once restrictions are lifted

After putting out a call for nominations for Redcliffe’s best personal trainer of 2020 and counting the votes the winner can be revealed.

Redcliffe Herald readers had from Thursday to Sunday to vote for the best fitness gurus on the peninsula.

5. Erin Alisha and Phillips Junior Coutts, F45 Redcliffe

The team at F45 Redcliffe received lots of nominations and votes.

Located on High St, Kippa-Ring, the gym specialises in F45 – a program designed to provide a functional full-body workout while improving energy levels, metabolic rate, strength and endurance. Trainers Erin Alisha and Phillips Coutts received plenty of high praise from the readers who nominated them.

Lucy Jane said: “Erin Alisha, Phillips Junior Coutts at F45 Redcliffe. No competition, hands down the best. Training with them has changed my life – I’ve gone from someone who hated exercise to someone who is addicted to it! Fantastic humans.”

Amy Nicholson said she loved the team was full of positivity and able to push “everyone to their limits”.

Melissa Cadenaro said the team at F45 had made her fall in love with fitness again.

“They motivate and support us and most importantly make it fun,” she said.

4. Tom Law

A stalwart personal trainer on the Peninsula it will not surprise many to see Tom Law’s name on this list. The man behind Tom’s Law has been working in the fitness industry for 25 years.

He has published three books about the best ways to keep fit and healthy.

Tom’s Law specialises in boot camp style outdoor classes at Suttons Beach and also offers a mix of indoor sessions as well.

Heather McKenzie said Tom just has the “knack for getting the best out of everyone”.

Without a doubt, it has to be Tom Law, from Tom’s Law at Redcliffe. He has the knack of getting the best out of everyone, while also knowing each person’s limitations”.

Tracey J. Neller said: “Tom takes a group of individuals, challenges, supports, knows what level each individual can achieve and then pushes you to be better. In all that your self confidence grows”.

Donna Davis, 70, said she loved the Tom “caters to all”.

3. Annaliese Steinback, Snap Fitness Redcliffe

Annaliese Steinback is the club owner and manager of Snap Fitness Redcliffe.

She has more than 15 years experience in the fitness industry.

She has experience in the professional sporting field and the gym and has worked as a PT for more than 10 years.

Annaliese specialises in member motivation, rehabilitation, supplementation, weight control, sports specific conditioning and goal setting.

2. Angelina Barth, Active Sisters

The Active Sisters are set up in Margate. Angelina Barth founded the enterprise with the goal of empowering women to love movement.

Angelina had many health issues such as severe endometriosis, chronic fatigue and doubled her body size, and became depressed from her health and a challenging upbringing.

After hitting rock bottom she turned to the gym to try and get better.

But it was through aerobic style dvds she fell in love with fitness.

It inspired her to launch her own movements and dance fitness tracks and then go on to study and become a qualified personal trainer.

Active Sisters offer a range of fitness classes included TRX, pilates, ​dance fitness, boxing, strength classes, aerobics, HIIT, active ageing classes, bootcamps and workshops.

Their goal is to motivate others.

Kiesha Stehbens said Angelina was the best PT she had ever had.

“She is real, dedicated to your results and is so supportive! Absolutely amazing,” she said.

1. Vibe Fitness Studios Redcliffe

Nominations and votes poured in for Vibe Fitness Studios Redcliffe which operates out of Clontarf only launched in January.

The businesses is run by a team of five trainers and an admin manager.

Romana is the location manager.

Trainers Georgia, Jess and Lizzy all started as clients but after transforming their own lives decided they wanted to be apart of the team.

Ash and Rochelle joined last but are a vital part of the team.

Romana said the business got off to a rocky start.

“Officially rebranding in March 2020, we were shut down three weeks later due to COVID-19,” she said.

“During lockdown, we ran online sessions to keep servicing our clients and to keep our head above water. Thankfully, we came out the other end stronger as a team and as a business! Since reopening, we’ve spent the last four months helping our members get back into a new routine.”

Romana said the team put their hearts into everything they do.

“We believe that your mental health is just as important as your physical health so we take a holistic approach to health and fitness encompassing training, nutrition and mindset,” she said.

“We help people see their true potential and provide a safe, supportive environment for change and connection.”

VIBE specialises in bootcamp style fitness groups and also offers a Boomers program for the older generation – allowing them keep moving and providing a safe social space.

Members certainly approve with many singing VIBE’s praising during the nomination process.

Ellen McCleer said: “Jessica Griffiths at VIBE Fitness Studios Redcliffe was a life changing support for me after my second baby. Not only with weight loss and motivation but she also cares so deeply for her clients. Jess is always happy to help and check in on her clients. Even just for a chat. Thanks for everything always.”

Nicole Munro said the lovely ladies go out of their way to “train and push us as we each need to be”.

Romana said winning Redcliffe’s best PT is the “icing on the cake”.

“We have sacrificed a lot and worked our butts off since March and this is just the break we need,” she said.

“We are so honoured to be named Redcliffe’s best PT and we owe it all to our beautiful members and our family and friends who have supported us along the way. We couldn’t and wouldn’t want to do this without you all. Thank you so much for your love, loyalty and support.”
