Keilee, a 2020 graduate from Mabel Park SHS plays for the Roosters in the Tarsh Gale Cup and is destined to earn a place in the glamour club’s NRLW side.

To earn recognition in the code, Keilee would commute from Logan each weekend to play for the Roosters, before moving fulltime to Sydney where the family organised a billet family to enable her to have a chance of chasing her league dream.

“Keilee’s success has definitely inspired not only myself, but a lot of young females I have played alongside,’’ Shaylee said.

“I don’t think she knows this, but Keilee has created a culture at Mabel Park that you can’t just whip up over night.

“She has shown young females that if you work hard enough for something you will achieve it.

“The teachers and coaches at school always use Keilee as an example when they are doing their team chats because Keilee was not always the best player in her team, but she most definitely had the best attitude and mindset.

“Keilee is someone who strives for the best and will work her backside off until she physically can’t do anymore.

“Everyone has their own favourite players and idols but personally I would say my sister is who I aspire to be like in a few years.

“She’s made a name for herself and I want to do the same.

“My goal is to play alongside Keilee in a few years and to make my own name for myself.

“Picturing her and I on the field together will be my motivation until I achieve my dream.’’

Meanwhile, Mabel Park SHS’s Shaylee Joseph and school mates Malaela Su’a and Athene Vili were named in the Queensland 16-18 years merit representative team, while fellow Mabel Park SHS students Danielle Tukakangahau and Kaylani Tavita made the Queensland 14-15 years Queensland Merit team.

Teams from across the Gold Coast through Ipswich SHS, Stretton College and Forest Lake SHS were in the Titans Schools League this season.

“In 2021, there are 100 teams representing 25 schools in the competition which is nearly double the amount of teams from the last full length competition in 2019,’’ said Darren Robb, the Gold Coast Titans Game Development Manager.
