Beenleigh SHS is the school which produced former Queensland State of Origin players Alan Cann and Tonie Carroll, and rugby league coordinator Blake Trace said playing in the Titans Schools League was “ valuable in providing an opportunity for kids to engage in a sport they love and enjoy’’.
He said one of the great strengths of the Titans Schools League was students of a “diverse range of abilities’’ could mix across year levels in divisions 1 and 2 competitions.
Trace said playing in the Gold Coast Titans-sponsored competition helped “building culture and relationships among the school and (league) academy’’.
He said it was a wonderful vehicle in which to grow the game for girls. “It offers an equal chance for both boys and girls with pathways and opportunities to the next level.
Trace said by playing in the competition across division 1 and 2, helps enhance the development of players in the school’s rugby league academy.
“As we can continue to develop players, we are enhancing the teams across the academy and giving our students the best opportunity to succeed,’’ he said.
“In the division 1 competitions, there is a pathway for the top two teams to progress through to the NRL National Schoolboy Cup qualifying rounds.’’
He said all students at the academy operated under the values of P.A.C.T - which stands for “Pride, Aspire, Commit, and Trust) values. “When delving into these, we go into depth and not only look at on field values but life values and morals.’’
