PLAYERS OF THE ROUND
James Milner and Maverick Gav (Wilston Grange)
Milner dominated half forward and kicked two great goals while Maverick Gav displayed amazing workrate. “He was exceptional and dominated through the middle,’’ said coach Darren Fazldeen.
Jack Foggo, Damon Clarke and Luke Cahill (Palm Beach Currumbin)
The foundation for PBC’s victory over the Sharks came through Foggo’s efforts in the ruck, Clarke’s efforts across the backline, and Currumbin Surf Life Saver Cahill’s stunning efforts up forward. PBC were so fortunate to have that trio - and of course Nelson Beikoff-Smart as well.
Harrison Bridge, Joel O’Brien, Alex Peacock (Sherwood)
An under 15 Division 1 eligible player was among Sherwood’s best as the Magpies continued to take flight and cement a top five berth. Harrison Bridge was splendid in his team’s win - and so was yet again was Peacock. He continued to rake up the possessions and scoring opportunities, while O’Brien worked hard all game.
Billy Bougoure (Sherwood)
Billy Bougoure presented his coach Ben Jaenke-Cain will a dream performance because he contested all day.
Charlie Phillips and Nic Maxwell (Sherwood)
Phillips worked extremely hard and showed up at the right spots all game, while Maxwell’s silky out the back of the contest drive gave Sherwood lateral ball movement..
Tom Gillett (Sherwood)
Gillett worked hard all game according to his coach Ben Jaenke-Cain. “He had an elite work rate for a ruck and was dominant on the ground and in the air,’’ his coach said.
Bailey Burrows (Redland Victoria Point)
A young skilful player who never gave up against the best side in the competition. He was hard at the contest the entire game.
Alex Pope (Redland Victoria Point)
Pope is an extremely talented player who was able to amass a lot of quality possession around the ground and even kicked a sensational goal on the run.’’
Charlie Corrigan, Bodie Smith and Jack Kalan (Mt Gravatt)
“All played well contesting all game long,’’ praised Vultures coach David Greenaway.
Jaedon Schwab ((Surfers Paradise)
“Schwab worked hard all day as did James Carrigan and Nico Abrahams,’’ coach Alistair Mitchell said.
Loe Johnston, Levi Fyffe, Jesse Ince, Seb Stevens and Lucus Mann (Labrador)
Johnson won his own fiooty through the midfield and always gives 100 percent while Mann, Stevens, Fyffe and Stevens did their jobs..
Jakob Gordon and Duncan Lewis (Aspley)
Gordon in the forward line competed really well for the Hornets although the side did not convert all the time, while Lewis in the ruck and up forward competed tirelessly.
Campbell Harrop (Aspley)
In the midfield Harrop tried hard and used his “smarts’’, but according to coach Atkins “Maroochydore would sling shot quickly from defence into offence and hurt us’’.
Tanner Griffiths, Joey Wilson and Jayden Lloyd (Morningside)
Griffiths was fantastic in the Panthers losing side, generating run across centre half back while not for the first time Wilson was among the very best Morningside players. Lloyd on the wing also deserves high praise for his work rate and defensive efforts.
Joe Kennedy, Lawson Shirley, Jack Jovanovic (Broadbeach)
Theee three under 17 Div 1 eligible players were front and centre in the Cats workmanlike performance in beating Mt Gravatt, with Jovanovic kicking three goals. Around them Cooper Parkes, Cooper Gwynne and Benjamin Keeling also shone.
THE MATCHES
Maroochydore 12-14-86 to Aspley 5-11-41.
Aspley coach Brett Atkins said the result was disappointing.
“Maroochydore are a good side with bigger bodies compared to our 16-year-old lads,’’ Atkins said.
“After quarter time our pressure intent was good but their early jump hurt us.’’
Maroochydore have been contacted for comment and no best players available either at this moment.
Sherwood 10-9-69 to Morningside 5-4-34
Morningside coach Ross Anderson said the Panthers competed well and the pressure at the contest was good. “But Sherwood were very good outside and moved the ball well.’’
Sherwood coach Ben Jaenke-Cain said as a group his boys were playing for each other and doing their jobs. “The way we moved the ball from coast to coast and our composure exiting stoppages was impressive,’’ he said.

QAFL and QAFLW’s TOUGHEST PLAYERS
Broadbeach 14-7-91 to 4-6-30 Mt Gravatt
Mt Gravatt coach David Greenaway said while his side played well in the first half, his side let “Broadbeach take control” with some poor skill execution and decision making.
“We will be working on our skill execution and game style during the week,’’ he added.
Mt Gravatt were still in touch entering the final term - they were four goals adrift - but the better side powered on, keeping the Vultures scoreless.
Broadbeach have been contacted for comment.
Broachbeach coach said “a win is a win and we take that’’.
He said his players were asleep until halftime and “we must improve in many areas to take any meaningful spot in the finals’’.
Wilston Grange defeated Surfers Paradise 9-59 to 4-5-29
Wilston Grange coach Darren Fazldeen said it was a fabulous win against a side which “had to keep winning to keep their finals hopes alive’’.
“We played good, hard Gorillas footy and grinded a good win.’’
Surfers coach Alistair Mitchell said it was obviously a disappointing result. “We were pretty disappointed with the results when we showed that we could match it with them in the first half,’’ he said. “
Palm Beach Currumbin v Redland Victoria Point
Redland Victoria Point hit PBC between the eyes and it took a while for PBC to regain its balance and get its game together.
But after the slow start PBC pushed ruthlessly toward the win.
“In the second half the boys started to win the contest and stoppage and gave our forwards opportunities in the 50,’’ said PBC coach Glen Clark.
Redland Victoria Point coach Brian Zutt was proud of the way his team competed hard and “brought some intense pressure against the top team in the first half’’.
Noosa defeated Labrador
Labrador coach Rob Yoannidis said his team had every chance to win, but bad kicking let them down. “We kicked 3-11, although the boys battled hard all day and finished the game with 16 players due to injuries.’’
