Langer Livestream: Wavell old couple kicking goals
One is a Roosters contracted, high-flying jack-in-the box winger and the other is a quietly spoken tough prop. Together Jordan Tut-Chapman (winger) and Damascus Neemia (prop) give Wavell SHS starch in the Langer Trophy.

One is a Roosters contracted, high-flying jack-in-the box winger and the other is a quietly spoken tough as teak prop.
Together Jordan Tut-Chapman (winger) and Damascus Neemia (front rower) give Wavell SHS starch in the middle the finishing power on the fringes as the side prepares for today’s Langer Trophy match-of-the-round against Keebra Park SHS.

Tut-Chapman is from the famous Wests Mitchelton junior rugby league catchment - the one that produced internationals like Paul Vautin, John Rhodes and John Ribot.

SIX THINGS WE LEARNED FROM ROUND 5
He actually dropped out of the Wavell SHS rugby league program as a year 9 student, only to recapture his zest for the game under Walters Cup (year 10) coach Dave Porter.
Tut-Chapman’s reward for his comeback was being invited to a Sydney Roosters schoolboy trial in 2019 where he earned a scholarship contract with the powerhouse NRL club.
In fact after failing to make the Norths Devils Mal Meninga Cup under 18s team earlier this season, he enjoyed a pretty good second prize - being flown to Sydney each weekend to play in the Harold Matthews (under 18) competition for the Roosters.
“The Roosters flew me down every week to play Harold Matthews,’’ Tut-Chapman said.
“It was pretty cool getting on a plane every week and meeting all the boys.”I have met friends for life and enjoyed my footie.
“I’d go into the Roosters headquarters and see my idols like Joey Manu and Daniel Tupou.’’
One of the competition’s renowned speed men is his Wavell teammate Kallum Weatherall-Stacey and while the national sprint representative has Tut-Chapman covered for pace - it is not by much.

The confident Tut-Chapman reckons Weatherall-Stacey is only about “half a second quicker’’ . “I don’t have him yet but I am not too far behind him.’’
With his bubbly personality, Tut-Chapman flies above the radar while teammate Neemia is happy to see the spotlight shine elsewhere why he gets his job done without fuss.
Asked what he admires most about his big mate Neemia in the middle, Tut-Chapman said: “I love his aggression. He doesn’t care about getting whacked. He just puts everything into his runs and it is great having him in the team.’’
Big Neemia is no speed machine, but when you have his toughness, desire and will, who needs pace?
As a year 11 student playing front row in the Langer Trophy, it is a tough gig, but Neemia is loving the challenge.
“The speed of the game is really fast, and the contact is really heavy,’’ the St Joseph’s Virginia rugby league club junior said. “I have just learnt to play my game and be really confident.’’
