In Division 2, Morningside had a narrow loss to Tweed Coast Northern Rivers 3-4-22 to 1-6-12, with a 30-40kph wind playing havoc.

“Morningside couldn’t take full advantage of the wind, and this proved the difference,’’ said Panthers coach Alan McGrath.

Centre half back Charli Worden was having a huge game but copped a heavy knock in the third quarter and took no further part.

McGrath said Poppy Priestly and Emily Brand also showed great signs with fierce attack at the footy.

“Overall there is a lot to like from our very inexperienced team, and the game gave us a clear idea of where we can improve.’’
