In other results Maroochydore pressed the go button to beat Noosa 14.15-99 to 0-3-3 and the south side derby saw Morningside 6.7-43 ease to victory over Mt Gravatt 3.5-23.
Broadbeach roared to 16.13-109 to Redland-Victoria Point’s 0-9-9, Surfers Paradise got cracking to score 16.14-110 to Labrador’s 2.1-13 while Palm Beach Currumbin 13-6-84 beat Sherwood 4.1-25.
The Super 20 from round 4 included:
Ryan Lewis (Wilston Grange): Lewis was tough all day, winning a lot of contested footy and giving his outside midfielders opportunities.
Lucas Snowball (Surfers Paradise): He was here, there and everywhere and gave Surfers first use on the ball.
Hamish Telfer (Wilston Grange): The half back flanker has a well known surname from the Gorillas territory. Yesterday he won plenty of one-on-one battles which helped turn defence into attack.
Hunter James (Maroochydore): James again controlled the backline with speed, contesting marking and direction.
Kane Gordan (Surfers Paradise): Gordan read the game perfectly and rebounded every Labrador run.
Jack Stringer, Mitch Day, Lachie Ferguson (Palm Beach Currumbin): The trio were terrific ball winners for the PBC side in an away game at Sherwood, with Stringer setting a high standard on the ball and Day leaping in the ruck.
Joey Wilson (Morningside) and his midfield mates: Is there a better scavenger in the competition at the moment than the in form Joey Wilson after he starred again yesterday. But it was a team effort, and around him fellow mid fielders Bryce Longland, Tannar Griffiths and Matt Robson kept the Panthers motor running. Unsung in the Morningside win also was the entire back seven.
Sonny Ashley and Will Jones (Maroochydore): Ashley ranked up possessions at a great rate of knots in the midfield with his inside 50 entries, while Jones was a power forward who presented well with a good set of hands and an accurate kick at goal despite the wind.
Leo Johnson and Seb Stevens (Labrador): For the second successive match Johnson and Stevens lead the way for a wet behind the ears Labrador. They had help yesterday, with Wade Robinson, Brock Whitecross and Baily Peters also among their team’s best, but certainly Johnson and Stevens were setting a benchmark in a young side.
Isaac Solomon (Mt Gravatt): He fought all day in defence and held his team’s backline together.
Cooper Parkes and Luke Frawley (Broadbeach): The club with so many Coopers had a great win not because of the points they scored, but for keeping their rivals to nine scoring shots. And leading the way were backv men Parkes and Frawley, while Liam Thorn deserves a special mention.
Elijah Sutton (Mt Gravatt): An under 17 age group player, he came into his own and held up nicely against his rivals. He had a great intercept mark across half back.
Seth Scriven, Harrison Sala and Ryan King (Redland-Victoria Point). It blew like mad and it also rained goals as Broadbeach had a big win over the Sharks. But through it all the home team had several stoic performers, including fullback Scriven and mid field men King and Sala.
Luca Lervarde (Palm Beach Currumbin): PBC were able to restrict Sherwood to 25 points and a lot of that was due to the performance of backman Lervarde.
Conner Lambert (Mt Gravatt): He was strong in the ruck and rarely lost a tap. “He is setting our kids on the right path,’’ said Vultures coach David Greenway.
THE MATCHES
Wilston Grange coach Darren Fazeldeen said it was a satisfying performance against the Hornets in windy conditions.
“The team played really well,’’ he said.
“The side was back to play Gorillas footy.’’
Wilston Grange led at every quarter, winning possession back when Aspley ventured toward its scoring end and rebounding play back up the ground.
Leading the charge was midfielder Ryan Lewis and half back flanker Hamish Telfer, both of

Surfers Paradise had a local derby win over Labrador, 16.14-110 to Labrador’s 2.1-13.
The Demons coach Alistair Mitchell said it blew a gale but the side remained disciplined and followed its processes.
He hailed them for kicking more than 100 points in the competition, while also restricting their rivals to just three shots. “That was a great effort by our forwards, but the most pleasing part of our game was keeping them to three shots on goal’’.
Surfers’ midfielder Lucas Snowball was outstanding while half back flanker Kane Gordan read play like a book.
“It was one of the best team games we have played and we can’t wait to build on that in coming weeks,’’ Mitchell said.
Labrador coach Rob Yoannidis said his team struggled in the conditions against quality opposition. “We are a very young and inexperienced side, but we continue to learn how we want to play.’’

In a Brisbane south side derby, Morningside 6.7-43 claimed a tight, tough win over Mt Gravatt 3.5-23.
“It was really a game of two halves,’’ explained Morningside coach Ross Anderson.
“Mt Gravatt dominated the first and we had the better of the second half,’’ Anderson said.
Anderson said his entire back seven shone brightly, while Bryce Longland, Tannar Griffiths, Joey Wilson and Matt Robson were great in the middle.
Mt Gravatt were very much up to the challenge, only to lose their grip as the second half unfolded.
“Mt Gravatt pressured Morningside in the first half and going into at halftime we were in front,’’ said coach David Greenaway.
“Morningside came out after halftime and played good attacking footy.
“The signs are good in Vulture land with our group being quite young.
“Trusting our structure and game play is the key to success.’’
Best were Isaac Solomon, Elijah Sutton and Conner Lambert.

Winning ball for PBC was Jack Stringer and Mitch Day in the ruck, while Luca Lervarde (back) and Lachie Ferguson (on ball) did very well.
