Sue’s Burgers and Shakes is set to open at the Glasshouse Dining Precint at Westfield Carindale after a soft opening night on Monday, November 22.

The 210sq m venue will feature 80s inspired modern street art, funky neon lights and retro furniture including Malibu-style diner booth seats complete in fire engine red with white trims.

The new burger joint is the sister restaurant to Coorparoo’s hugely popular Wing Fix owned by Brisbane brothers Peter and Ross Jacobi.

The pair started out operating from a food truck before opening their first Wing Fix location in Morningside in 2018 and a larger 70-seater venue in Cooperoo in 2019.

Wing Fix was crowned the home of the “Best Burgers in the South-East Brisbane” in celebrity chef Matt Preston’s best local burger competition early this year.

The Jacobi brothers are now drawing on some retro inspiration for their latest venture, Sue’s Burgers and Shakes.

“The food is similar to Wing Fix in terms of American style cuisine but we’ve taken it to the next level with more of a modern twist,” Peter said.

“We like to think of it as the old school meets the new school.

“Smash burgers are very in and trendy at the moment so we’ll be doing a smash burger offering, loaded fries offering and the thick shake offering is significantly larger as well.”

He said their signature burger “Glazy Susan” is a Biscoff glazed milk bun topped with parmesan cheese and crispy bacon bits, Sue’s signature sauce, more crispy bacon, smashed beef, onion and double American cheese.

Peter said the sweet and salty creation was inspired by the infamous “Marvin Glaze” burger by the crew at Burger Point in Sydney.
