Clayfield College director of sport Jon Woods conceded their opponents dominated in the hockey but congratulated Mulholland with her nous with the stick.

The school had better luck in volleyball where the year 10 B side clinched a nailbiter against BSHS to win 16-15.

Year 7 and 9 won their volleyball matches also.

Woods made special mention of the school’s open netball side which “scored more in their games than ever before in a positive sign of improvement”.

BSHS showed off a number of sterling performances.

The tennis girls had wins in all divisions with the junior A team remaining undefeated with a no-nonsense 36 – 2 score.

The open hockey team had “a great win today” with a faultless 11 – 0 on the board and junior A also played well in both attack and defence to score a 5 – 1 victory.

And in Netball the State High open team continued to improve their fluid attack up court with speed and precision enjoying a 37 – 16 win.

Hosts Moreton Bay College (MBC) continued to show their depth in netball winning 10 of 15 games against Brisbane Girls Grammar School (BGGS) including the open side who remain undefeated for the season.

The Senior A, 10 A, 9 A, 8 A and 7 A netball sides also won their games for an all around dominant display with the ball.

A MBC representative said there was a long-awaited “very close” open volleyball game which went the full five sets with MBC winning 3-2.

The representative conceded that BGGS dominated the remainder of the volleyball matches.

St Hilda’s School took on hosts St Peter’s Lutheran College with mixed results and some determined play from two standout volleyball players.

St Hilda’s acting head of sport Mel Lilley said Lillian Dell in senior A volleyball was hungry for the ball in defence and did some amazing sliding passes, while Emma Raby in open volleyball had some amazing serves and was very good at encouraging the team and keeping them in points.

Lilley said the girls in junior tennis took no prisoners with the A, B and C sides winning their matches “quite convincingly”.

More success followed for St Hilda’s with the senior A hockey winning 3-0.

In netball the visitors had to grind their teeth with the 10 B side suffering an oh-so-close 25-23 loss to St Peter’s.

And the close competition persisted in the volleyball where the 7 A and 9 B sides lost narrowly in 2-1 nailbiters.

And elsewhere in volleyball St Peter’s had a commanding run with the scores telling a one-sided tale:
