QGSSSA sport: Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association action

The St Peters Lutheran College volleyballers, MBC and Somerville House netballers shone in Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association schoolgirl sport this morning.

One of the most dominant Queensland Girls’ Secondary Schools Sports Association teams in any sport got to work this morning when the Moreton Bay College open netballers clicked like clockwork against St Margaret’s Anglican Girls’ School at Windsor.

MBC were powerful all over the court against St Margaret’s, winning 42-12.

I bet if you lined up individuals from both teams there would not be a big difference between the girls talent wise, but as a group MBC were an unstoppable force.

Queensland representative sisters Rianah and Lynette Childs were enormous for MBC in repelling St Margaret’s attack, with Lynette standing like a colossus under the net.

Scurrying around the centre Monique Piunti seemed to have the fitness of a triathlete, so energetic was she. Piunti was the perfect link between defence and attack.

And at the goal shooters end, Jamaica Jauncey was a focal point for MBC while the basketball skills of Lil Dart went obvious to onlookers.

Full marks to St Margaret’s who, across every position, preserved. And will be a great experience for this improving bunch who were confronted by the benchmark of the competition. They will be wiser for the experience.
