The Southport School put on a clinic today and continued their blemish-free run which will have them lock horns with the only other undefeated team in St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace next week to end the season.

TSS punished their mistake-prone rivals today with a 6-nill win against Brisbane Boys College at BBC.

The season favourites were up by 5-nill at halftime with captain Ewan MacLeod scoring first and Lochie Johnston netting the “pivotal” second and third goals while defender Charlie Blok put one away also.

“They boys were excellent and they fully deserved the win,” TSS director of football Joe Dolan said.

“Going into today we knew on paper we should win but BBC are as dangerous as anyone else so you have to do the right things continually.

“They made a couple of mistakes that we punished them for and the strong lead we had by halftime meant we could take a couple of players off the field in preparation for next week.”

The win puts TSS in line for season glory which Dolan greeted with a measured enthusiasm.

“Terrace have had a great season and they have been building up for this for a couple of years,” he said.

“They are at their peak right now so we will play the game in the right spirit and it is a really exciting match to look forward to.”

A young squad showed St Joseph’s Gregory Terrace could handle a late withdrawal and still dominate on the pitch with a performance that sees them go into the finals next week undefeated.

Terrace put the boot down with a stonking 5-1 victory against Brisbane Grammar School (BGS) made all the more impressive with five year 10s and three year 11s putting in the work.

Will Dent did damage with a no less than a hat trick while ever dangerous Solomon Weldemariam scored off a free kick and centre Archie Hanson shone, scoring with a header.

The win secures a playoff for all the marbles against TSS at Tennyson next week.

Terrace director of football Mitch Edwards said it should make for an exciting game.

It was a comeback victory for Ipswich Grammar School (IGS) with a 4-2 win against Anglican Church Grammar School at IGS.

David Ishimwe (year 12) was all class scoring three goals and Buddha Barton (year 12) put one away for good measure.

“IGS came out slowly and were 0-2 down by halftime,” IGS director of sport Nigel Grieve said.

“They came back with a vengeance in the second half with an incredible performance, playing at a tempo the opposition were unable to handle.

Captain Cooper Nichols (year 12) and vice-captain Daryl Barton were “instrumental” in turning the match around while winger David Ishimwe was “very impressive” in the second half performance with his goal scoring.

But it was Benji Binney (year 10) who was “crucial” in turning the game around and did “an outstanding job on their most important player”.

Grieve said all three substitutes – Benji Binney, Ethan Frazer (year 12) and Logan Harmer (year 10) – made effective contributions to the team’s success.

It was an undeniably uplifting affair for Toowoomba Grammar School (TGS) today at Toowoomba as they put an end to a season-long losing streak with a solid 3-nill win against Brisbane State High School (BSHS).

All three goals were scored in the first half with BSHS “unlucky” not to score a few of their own.

“We have had a lean trot so far and it was wonderful to get the first win for the season,” TGS director of sport Steve Fryer said.

“It was our best performance of the year and they have been training hard and it was good to see them rewarded for their effort.”

BSHS director of football Tom Schad said it was a tough day for his boys but he was nonetheless impressed with how they played and the attitude they showed.

Schad congratulated Andrew Spathis on slick save for his side.
