The husband-and-wife duo behind Wynnum’s booming restaurant hub are opening up a flashy new tapas bar and restaurant in the heart of Victoria Point.

Olga and Richard Faataape are putting the final touches on their new restaurant and bar Oscar Oscar Bar & Eats with an opening date set for Friday, May 6.

The tapas bar will be in Victoria Point Shopping Centre’s new dining precinct, two doors down from Broken Hearts Burger Club.

Ms Faataape told Redlands Community News locals could expect Asian-fusion share-style dishes, mains, tap beers and a variety of signature cocktails.

“We want to make it a place where people book their birthdays, dinner dates, that sort of thing,” she said.

They were also keen on having live music every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and playing host to events such as ladies’ long lunches and charity events.

Ms Faataape said the venue, still under construction, will feel very luxurious with a “Hamptons‘” decor.

“We’ve actually gone a little bit crazy with the fit-out.

The Faataapes have been in the Greater Brisbane restaurant scene for more than a decade, opening their first cafe Coco Bella in New Farm 12 years ago.

The couple has since shaken up Wynnum’s dining scene with the launch of Mr Hibachi and The Fat Duck in 2020.

“We want to be able to give the same type of vibe that we’ve offered locals in Wynnum over (in Victoria Point),” Ms Fataape said.

Oscar Oscar Bar & Eats will be open seven days a week from 11am to late.

Ms Faataape said they were also planning to trial a breakfast option on Saturdays and Sundays.
