The opening of a new business at a prominent bayside location where a much-loved Hog’s Breath Cafe traded for 15 years has businesses and residents on tenterhooks.
Situated at the former Hog’s Breath site at Victoria Point Lakeside the business stands obscured with covering as mystery swirls at the identity of the newcomer.
Centre management and the new operators remain tight-lipped and neighbouring businesses are chomping at the bit for information.
The only clue so far?
A placard – now obscured – affixed to the door stating that LI Kitchen and Bar were hiring bar, kitchen and front of house staff and was expected to open in October.
Exactly what the new business will offer had nearby businesses scratching their heads.
Some ventured it would be a bar, others thought tapas; all were desperate to find out.
It comes after Hog’s Breath Cafe closed at the location in June, to the dismay of many in the region.
A call-out to our Redlands Community News readers asking what business they would like to see at the locale received hundreds of comments.
Tapas was a popular suggestion, another bar was favoured by many and some even called for another burger joint to rival next door’s Grill’d.
Many readers remarked the former Hog’s Breath Cafe had been a destination business, an institution even, with residents coming from as far as Logan and beyond.
It remains to be seen whether the highly anticipated newcomer can garner a similar following.
