AT least three developers with huge plans for one of the Redlands’ biggest emerging building projects will face Redland City Council in court.

Clay Gully Pty Ltd, Sutgold Pty Ltd and PPV Victoria Point Land Pty Ltd have each lodged appeals against Redland City Council after deemed refusals were cast over their development applications for projects within the South West Victoria Point Structure Plan area.

The 175ha Victoria Point Structure Plan Area is bounded by Bunker, Cleveland-Redland Bay and Double Jump roads.

The deemed refusals were automatically logged against the applications after the council exceeded the allocated time period to consider and decide upon the plans.

Initially, the developments would be responsible for the construction of more than 300 homes as well as an over 50s living site in the area. Ultimately, the site will be home to thousands of new families.

Extensive development of what has become known as the Victoria Point Structure Plan are has been in the works for more than a decade.

A significant bone of contention was the provision of a draft structure plan by developers at the request of council.

The plans were never used and instead developers are waiting on a council plan which was sent to the State Government in November 2019 for approval.

A council spokesperson said the plan was progressing through the first stage of review”.

“In November last year, Council resolved that work would continue to progress on the South-West Victoria Point Structure Plan, including submitting it to the State Government for review and consulting with the community, but it would not be included in the City Plan without the essential State transport infrastructure upgrades needed to support it, especially the duplication of Cleveland-Redland Bay Rd and release of the Victoria Point Bypass study,” the spokesperson said.

“Information about the status of development applications currently before the courts is available in Council’s agenda for the General Meeting of 27 May 2020.

“It would be inappropriate for Council to comment further on matters before the courts.”
