This bottleneck is closer to a solution after the State Government called for tenders

Motorists will be happy to hear that progress is being made on improvements to this traffic problem area, but time is running out to comment on another area of concern.

Redlands MP Kim Richards says pedestrian safety is also a major focus of the upgrade at the Anita St and Cleveland-Redland Bay Rd intersection.

The State Government has called for tenders on the design of the $5 million upgrade to the Cleveland-Redland Bay Rd and Anita St intersection at Redland Bay.

Redlands MP Kim Richards said the upgrade would signalise the intersection, improving safety and reducing delays for motorists during peak times.

“As a local resident, I know just how frustrating this intersection can be for motorists wanting to exit and enter Anita St,” Ms Richards said.

“Schoolchildren and locals also currently cross the road to access nearby bus stops, which is why pedestrian safety is also a major focus of the upgrade, with signalised crossings to be installed.

“The Anita St upgrade is expected to provide an injection into the local economy with more than 30 jobs to be supported over the life of the project.

“Our community wants action on Cleveland-Redland Bay Rd, which is why we’re delivering the $5 million Anita St intersection upgrade, and now planning for local roads through the Victoria Point Bypass study.”

Ms Richards said the announcement was a great reminder for residents to have their say on the Victoria Point Bypass study – with the survey closing at midnight on March 15.

“The Palaszczuk Government is planning for the future of the Redlands and seeking community input on its study to make sure any community concerns are included in the planning process,” she said.

Feedback can be provided to the Department of Transport and Main Roads through the five-minute online survey, by phoning the project team on 3066 4338 or emailing MetropolitanRegion@tmr.qld.gov.au.

Ms Richards said the Anita St upgrade would build on other major local projects, including the $5 million Giles Rd intersection upgrade, the $8.15 million Redland Bay Marina Terminal upgrade and the $9.77 million Victoria Point Central bus station, now under construction.
