Here we reveal some of the brand new childcare centres coming to Brisbane to cater for our littlest locals.

A development application has been lodged for a 136-place childcare centre in Ashgrove, in Brisbane’s north.

If approved, the two-storey development — on a site owned by The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust at the corner of Ashgrove Avenue and Devoy St — would include four outdoor play spaces, a cafe, office space, as well as 41 under croft car parking spaces.

Plans are currently before Moreton Bay Regional Council for a two-storey childcare centre, to be built over two previously residential blocks, at Eatons Hill.

The expansive centre on Marilyn Tce would have enough space for 105 children and would be opposite the pick-up and drop-off area for Eatons Hill State School.

The centre, if approved, will have just 21 carparks, which is less than the 35 required by council.

It is proposed to create 14 jobs.

The report does not state who will operate the centre, if approved.

Residents had until midnight on December 18 to make submissions regarding the application.

IMAGINE CHILDCARE

A huge new development planned for Samford Rd would include a 160-place childcare centre.

The site would also incorporate 1547sqm of internal space and 1443sqm of outdoor play space as well as 32 car parking spaces.

Access to the centre would be from Bere St.

The centre could be Imagine Childcare’s first Brisbane centre, with centres already in operation in Logan and on the Gold Coast.

Plans for a new childcare centre at 215 Whites Rd, Lota were submitted to Brisbane City Council in December.

The new centre would accommodate 109 children, 22 carparks and employ 17 full-time equivalent staff.

The centre, while in a residential street, would be located close to Moreton Bay Boys’ College and Manly West State School.

The two-storey centre would operate Monday to Friday from 6am to 7pm.

A new three-storey childcare centre proposed on a heritage-listed site could offer kids one of the best views of the CBD.

Plans were lodged with Brisbane City Council recently for the new Happy Kids Early Learning Centre at 618 Brunswick St, New Farm.

Among features would be an outdoor play area situated on the building’s rooftop, according to floorplans submitted to Brisbane City Council.

The new centre would be tacked onto the back of an existing shopfront dating back to between the 1860s and 1890s, which is heritage listed.

The proposal suggests it would have enough space to care for 100 children.

POD EARLY SCHOOL

Despite a fire that destroyed part of its new site in late 2020, Pod Early School is on track to open February, 2021.

In late September a fire ripped through a heritage listed former police station building that was to be incorporated into the new Pod Early School footprint.

While the blaze destroyed the building, the centre pulled off a small miracle by having new development plans quickly approved by Brisbane City Council — allowing the centre to retain its plans to open at the beginning of 2021.

The centre, on Enoggera Rd, will feature state of the art equipment and has already accepted some 100 enrolments.
