Plans for a new 15-storey hotel and wellness precinct have today been revealed for a premier and long-loved Fortitude Valley site.

The plans are part of a development application submitted today by Property Plans Australia for a luxury “lifestyle and wellness hotel development”.

The news comes just more than a year since it was announced the site, at 621 Ann St (on the corner of Marshall St), would be given a new lease on life after sitting vacant since August 2018 thanks to a new “Los Angeles-influenced venue” set to open at the site.

The high-profile corner was previously the home of high-profile night clubs Monastery and Oh Hello and is now the home of Ella Sabe.

The new development would see the current two-storey site be transformed into a vibrant, architecturally designed 15-storey hotel building, called FV Hotel.

“The proposal seeks to revitalize the southern end of the Valley, which has been a long standing eye sore and abandoned area,” the application said.

The stunning design would incorporate unhindered views of the Story Bridge and Brisbane CBD and would sit just minutes from the city’s most recent draw-card, the revived Howard Smith Wharves and two doors down from Brisbane’s iconic Cloudland Hotel and Chinatown Mall.

According to the development application the building was “designed to capture an abundance of natural light, and cross ventilation wrapped in landscaping... with open ended corridors, green walls and acoustic and solar battens”.

“FV desires to be the epitome of subtropical design”.

The “exclusive high-end” project would include 204 single-bedroom suites, a 209sqm ground floor publicly accessible restaurant and 80sqm lounge bar as well as a rooftop function and bar space, pool, outdoor cabanas and a gym but no on-site car parking.

“The rooftop will be accessible to hotel guests but also provide public access to the outdoor recreation facilities and function space,” the application said.

“The intention for this space is to provide a function space for use by hotel guests and the general public to hire out. When functions are not taking place this space can be utilised as a bar.”

According to the project’s developers “this development envisions itself adding to the Valley fabric.

“In recent history, the Valley has seen a change in its presence. With multiple residential and commercial developments - broadening the demographic (that) enjoy what the Valley has to offer.”
