A long-awaited new Bunnings Warehouse opens this week in Caboolture with the complex manager giving customers the chance to take a sneak early peek.

The 13,000 sqm centre, which cost $32 million, will have more than 400 car parks and employ more than 85 people.

The new Bunnings, behind Big Fish Junction at 459 Pumicestone Rd, has a main warehouse retail space, outdoor nursery, timber trade sales area, special orders desk, hire shop, cafe and more.

Among the 132-strong team members are skilled experts in timber, tools, paint, kitchens, gardening and outdoor living.

It will be all hands on deck on opening day to help locals with advice for their DIY and project needs.

Grand opening celebrations will be held on February 4 and 5.

The new warehouse is part of the huge $80 million Big Fish Business Park which has already seen a Coles, Chemist Warehouse and KFC among stores open.

Complex Manager, Emily Sweet, said she was very excited to see an investment of this scale come to the growing Caboolture and Elimbah area.

“The team has been working tirelessly to ensure the store is ready for customers when we open our doors for the first time,” Ms Sweet said.

“We can’t wait to start serving Caboolture locals and becoming a key part of the growing region.

“The layout of the warehouse is slightly different to others to make it more convenient for the customers.

“The size of the landscape and nursery area is quite considerable as well as the timber yard — we really have invested considerably in those areas.

“We have a great positioning from the highway.

“For any trade customer driving from the Sunshine Coast through to Brisbane or anywhere else in between, this location is handy for them to pop in.”

Until now Morayfield was the nearest Bunnings.

The developers of the Big Fish Business Park hoped the new store would service the planned Caboolture West satellite city, expected to be home to 70,000 people.

“We genuinely love working here, we genuinely love serving our customers and helping them to finish their projects at home,” Ms Sweet said.

“We’ve got a team here that have many, many years of experience in their own trades and field.

“We often have customers come back in and show us photos of what they’ve done.

“At the start they were scared to even approach it and by the end, they’re coming back really proud and showing their family.”

The opening hours will be 6am-9pm weekdays, 7am-7pm Saturday and 7am-6pm Sunday.

The store has a range of sustainability initiatives to reduce its environmental impact including LED lighting, on-site water reuse and solar energy.

There will also be the famous sausage sizzle, every weekend.

As part of store opening celebrations, the Bunnings Caboolture team has provided some hands-on gardening support to local community groups.

“We had a great time helping rejuvenate gardens at the Kilcoy State School recently by planting new native shrubs, laying irrigation and installing benches,” Ms Sweet said.

“We hope it becomes a relaxing space for parents to enjoy while waiting for their kids.

“We also loved helping revitalise the Children’s Therapy Garden outside the Caboolture Neighbourhood Centre and populate the Mini Tails Animal Sanctuary with new native plants.

“We really enjoy getting out into the community and look forward to providing more assistance to local groups in the future.”

Customers can keep an eye on the store’s website for further details.
