Not only will Cameron Cullen be back in the red and white on Saturday night – he will be leading the team out the tunnel.

The 2018 premiership winning captain was again awarded the top honour at the club’s season launch on Friday.

Cullen, who missed the 2019 season due to injury, said he was looking forward to leading a new look team.

He played in one of the side’s two pre-season games – his first game of footy in more than 12 months.

“I was focused on just getting back on the field,” Cullen said.

He went on to score an impressive length of the field try.

“I have been doing a lot of fitness and it felt good to just get a game – it was like I was a kid again.”

Cullen said having the backing of a strong leadership team at the Dolphins, including vice-captain Ben Shea, would make his job a little bit easier this year.

Dolphins will play their first game against Sunshine Coast Falcons at Dolphins Stadium on Saturday night.

“We are pretty pumped to get out there and play,” Cullen said.

“We haven’t fielded a full strength team yet. This will be a good way to start the season.”

Redcliffe Dolphins coach Adam Mogg said it was great to see Cullen back on the field after 16 months away from the game.

“He has really matured as a person off the footy field and is running quicker than he probably ever has,” Mogg said.

“I am really happy for him and great to see him in great shape.

“I know how hard he has worked, he has high aspirations.”

Redcliffe Dolphins will kick off at 6pm on Saturday.
