A Moreton Bay man who tried to fix a bounty hit from behind bars has also admitted to other death threats in suburban streets.

Mark Paul Barry, 52, was at Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre when he enlisted people on the outside on October 10 last year to put a bounty on someone’s head over a property dispute.

Pine Rivers Magistrates Court heard Barry had also requested other crimes be committed on his behalf while behind bars on October 11.

Police Prosecutor Constable Daniel Baulderstone said Barry asked people on the outside to break into a house and to steal a car.

He said Barry was also stalking a person on July 1, allegedly making death threats in a suburban street at Strathpine.

Barry also drove off without paying for fuel at a petrol station on July 12.

Barry pleaded guilty on Friday to stalking, assault occasioning bodily harm – domestic violence, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, fraud, breaching bail and other domestic violence offences over six months.

Lawyer Brendan Whelan told the court his client suffered post traumatic stress disorder from incidents during childhood as well as other mental health issues.

Magistrate Annette Hennessy said she wanted to deliver a sentence that reflected the seriousness of the charges.

She sentenced Barry to 15 months jail but released him immediately on parole because of the 198 days Barry already served in custody.
