A CONCRETER who allegedly began to crush his partner’s throat before threatening to kill her has been released on bail.

The man, 24, was released from custody today and will reside at Bray Park before his next court date.

Caboolture Magistrates Court heard today the man — charged with contravening a domestic violence order, common assault and obstructing police — allegedly pushed his forearm to his partner’s neck causing her head to hit a wall, before pressing down on her throat for 20 seconds.

The court also heard he allegedly told her: “Once I get out of jail I’m going to find you and kill you.”

Prosecutors said they feared his violence would intensify.

“As it has been seen in recent times, there has been a series of domestic-violence related deaths... there are people being murdered.”

The man’s defence lawyer explained that due to a limited criminal history it was unlikely he would be sentenced to actual time in jail, and argued the man’s now ex-partner had moved some 300km away from the Caboolture area, making it highly unlikely the man would be able to contact her again.

The man was granted bail, ordered not to contact his ex-partner, and will return to court on July 2.
