A former Air Force recruit will remain in jail following an alleged series of terrifying attacks on his partner.
Jacob Brodie Kent, 32, is accused of a list of nine charges including two counts of choking, suffocation or strangulation while in a domestic relationship, one count of acts intended to main/disfigure or disable and dangerous conduct with a weapon.
Magistrate Andrew Hackett heard Kent allegedly shot an arrow at a car his partner was in on Monday.
The court heard the projectile pierced the body of the car.
He also allegedly on two occasions grabbed the woman by the throat, allegedly leaving marks on her neck in once instance.
The court heard that in January this year Kent allegedly grabbed his partner, dragged her to a bedroom and repeatedly asked her “do you want to die?”.
However Kent’s defence said he contested allegations including that he had caused the marks on the woman’s neck, as well as his behaviour at the time the arrow was allegedly shot at the car.
The court also heard Kent, who left the Air Force following an injury sustained as part of his role, was seeking medical help for post traumatic stress disorder among other conditions.
Magistrate Hackett said Kent, who appeared via video link, would “almost certainly” face jail time if convicted for the offences, which included use of a “weapon capable of causing very significant injuries if not death”.
He also deemed Kent at “unacceptable risk” of committing more offences against the victim and denied the man bail.
Kent will remain in custody and return to court on April 7.
