A highly regarded childcare provider is continuing its Moreton Bay expansion, with plans to build a new childcare centre directly next door to an existing location.

Sesame Lane has lodged a development application to construct a childcare centre at 8-14 Joyner Circuit, North Lakes, which will be directly next door to its existing centre at 16 Joyner Circuit, North Lakes.

The new one-storey centre would cater for 104 children and have a gross floor area of 838sqm plus 964sqm of outdoor play areas, in addition to perimeter landscaping ‘to provide a high standard of visual amenity.’

The proposed centre will operate in conjunction with the neighbouring child care centre and has been designed to share vehicle access and a total of 80 car park spaces.

“While the new centre is intended to focus primarily on providing after school care services, it is also able to accommodate traditional day care places during school hours as well,” the application reads.

“The development has been designed to activate the interface with Joyner Circuit by orientating the new building and play spaces to the road frontage, and providing car parking to the rear of the building.

“A prioritised pedestrian pathway will also be provided for connectivity between the two centres as indicated on the site plan.

“The new centre will include provision for 32 car parking spaces, and the overall development of both centres will have provision for a total of 80 car parking spaces.”

This application comes after Hildon Investments lodged an application to construct a 90 place childcare centre at 224 Bellmere Road, Bellmere.

Sesame Lane owner Hilton Misso and partner Don McKenzie are leading the charge to construct the new centre to span over 3500 sqm.

Sesame Lane currently has 14 locations north of Brisbane, including five existing centres in North Lakes.

“Fencing will be provided to the perimeter of the external play areas, which will be a 2m high screen fence as indicated on the plans, in order to provide appropriate safety and security for this space,” the application reads.

“As detailed on the 3D images provided, this fencing will include variation in colours to provide visual interest, and be complemented by landscaping.”

North Lakes State School is north of the proposed centre.

To the west of the site is a multi-tenanted commercial development known as the “Lifestyle Centre”, which consists of cafes, shops and offices.

To the south, the land fronting Anzac Avenue has been developed with a series of vehicle sales yards.
