An unused parcel of land attached to a shopping centre could be home to the next Guzman Y Gomez restaurant to open north of Brisbane if council approves the plans.
Adams and Sparkes Town Planning lodged an application with Moreton Bay Regional Council to build a Guzman Y Gomez drive-through restaurant at Warner earlier this month.
The fast-growing Mexican food chain hopes to build on an unused block attached to Warner Marketplace shopping centre at 357 Samsonvale Rd.
Marketplace Shopping Centre, is anchored by Woolworths and Aldi. It also has a range of other food outlets including Subway, Cold Rock, Dominos, Donut King, Empire Kebabs and Pizza Hut.
Plans submitted to council state the Guzman Y Gomez restaurant, if approved, will be built on a vacant lot across from the shopping centre and next to Sullivan Nicolaides.
It is proposed to have a floor area of 190m sq and a 40m sq outdoor dining area, as well as a drive-through.
At the moment the closest Guzman Y Gomez for Warner residents is at Albany Creek.
There are also GYG restaurants at North Lakes and Rothwell.
A Guzman Y Gomez spokeswoman said, as the application was yet to be considered by council, it was unable to provide details on how many jobs the restaurant would create or when it planned to open.
