Griffin woman identified in north Brisbane manslaughter case

A woman whose crash injuries landed her in a wheelchair has appeared in court charged with the manslaughter of the other driver.

A 47-year-old Griffin woman appeared in a wheelchair at the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Monday charged with the manslaughter of a 66-year-old woman following a fatal car crash in the Moreton Bay region late last year.

Shelley Louise Brumby was identified as the driver of a car allegedly involved in a head-on collision on Wagner Rd, Griffin, about 6pm on December 11.

The 66-year-old female driver of the other car died at the scene.

Brumby was extricated from her car and transported to hospital in a critical condition, where she was charged with manslaughter and later moved to the Pine Rivers watch house.

She was granted bail and continued to receive extensive medical treatment for her injuries, according to lawyer Glen Carpenter of Spire Law, who spoke on her behalf at court.

Brumby appeared with significant injury to her right foot and bandages to her right arm.

Mr Carpenter requested a brief of evidence and the case was adjourned to March 9 for a registry committal.

Brumby has yet to enter a plea.
