The grandfather of an allegedly murdered north Brisbane teen has attended Pine Rivers Magistrates Court where his granddaughter’s alleged killer was due to be mentioned.
Aaron Daniel Mitchelson Huckel was arrested and charged with the alleged murder of his ex-girlfriend, 18-year-old Emily Thompson, last October.
Ms Thompson’s parents raised the alarm after she failed to return home from a meeting with Huckel in a park at Strathpine.
Ms Thompson’s grandfather sat in the back of the courtroom, accompanied by a family friend, to witness Huckel's latest court appearance.
Huckel was not present in court when his matter was mentioned and remained in custody, where he spent his 20th birthday last month.
Duty lawyer Brendan Whelan told the court they were awaiting psychiatric reports on Huckel, with assessments due to take place on June 5.
Magistrate Annette Hennessy adjourned the matter to July 24 for further mention.
