Convicted basher Jake Law-Cobbo fronts court for drug driving
The man jailed for brutally kicking a teenager in the head so hard he was left fighting for life has returned to court once more.

THE man jailed for the brutal bashing that nearly cost 17-year-old Joshua Waite his life has returned to court on new charges.
Jake Ashley Law-Cobbo, 21, pleaded guilty in Caboolture Magistrates Court via phone link yesterday to one count of drug driving.
The court heard Law-Cobbo had taken a ‘cap’ of MDMA while out with friends.
In 2018 Law-Cobbo was jailed for kicking Joshua in the head so hard the boy was put in an induced coma for two weeks.
The assault happened outside a Redcliffe McDonald’s on May 12, 2017, when Law-Cobbo was 18.
Mr Waite’s parents had kept a bedside vigil while doctors aborted two attempts to bring their son out of the coma before finally succeeding.
In April 2018 Law-Cobbo was sentenced to four years’ jail for the grievous bodily harm of Mr Waite.
He was to be paroled after serving 14 months, which included almost of a year of pre-sentence custody.
Yesterday, the court heard a police drug test had found methamphetamine in Law-Cobbo’s saliva after he was stopped on Acqua St, Burpengary at 11.35am, December 18, 2019.
He was also charged with driving without a licence.
The court heard since his time in jail Law-Cobbo had held down a steady stream of jobs including in turfing and scaffolding however work had recently dried up.
He was fined $400 and disqualified from driving for three months.
