A Logan father’s war of words with his neighbour turned violent when he pulled out a weapon and threatened to shoot him, a court has heard.

Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard on Monday, July 17 that Tristan Luke Hammond, 33, was arguing with his neighbour in Slacks Creek on November 15 last year.

The court heard the neighbour’s friend attempted to climb the fence and enter Hammond’s property to which he aggressively responded.

“Don’t come into my yard or I’ll shoot you,” said Hammond.

The father of two then pulled out a sniper rifle gel blaster and pointed it at the neighbour and the neighbour’s friend.

The court heard the gel blaster looked very similar to a real firearm and the neighbour called police.

Hammond pleaded guilty to going armed as to cause fear.

Magistrate Tracy Mossop said irresponsible behaviour like this ruins it for the rest of the community.

“Gel blasters can be fun and a good hobby but the minority ruin it for everyone,” she said.

“I’m sick of seeing gel blasters used this way.”

Hammond was fined $800 and the gel blaster was confiscated.

No conviction was recorded.
