A Logan dad has been jailed over a dramatic and dangerous gender reveal event.

A Logan dad has been jailed for his reckless decision to do burnouts on a neighbourhood street for a gender reveal event.

Marsden dad, Jacob Daniel Daley, pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 17, to one count of dangerous driving and one count of failing to give a statutory declaration.

The court heard the 29-year-old was seen in a Holden Commodore on Burrinjuck St on September 11 last year doing skids and burnouts, leaving behind a trail of blue smoke.

“(The car) was on the wrong side of the road obstructing other road users,” police prosecutor Rochelle Paz Landin said.

“It blew smoke that was blue in colour and left black tyre marks.”

Jacob Daniel Daley pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on August 17.

The court heard Daley denied being in the Marsden area when asked by police.

“He claimed to have been moving house on his own and wasn’t in the Marsden area,” Sergeant Paz Landin said.

“He claimed someone was driving his car without his permission.

“Police believe the defendant was untruthful during the interview.”

Daley’s lawyer, Jason Phister, said that his client was remorseful.

“Mr Daley acknowledges that his actions were wrong,” Mr Phister said.

Mr Phister said his client would suffer consequences from his actions.

“He will lose his vehicle as a result of his actions, $40,000 worth,” he said.

Magistrate John Costanzo said Daley needed to grow up.

“For a man your age, you should be thoroughly ashamed of yourself,” Mr Costanzo said.

“You don’t respect the law. You don’t respect other road users, otherwise you wouldn’t have 14 pages of history.

“You keep committing the same mistakes, that means you have not learnt,”

“It’s quite clear from your history that you are a menace on the road.”

Daley was convicted and disqualified from driving for four years.

He was sentenced to nine months’ jail, suspended after serving three, for an operational period of four years.
