A Gold Coast influencer and law student with hundreds of thousands of online followers, has been told by a magistrate she has no respect for the laws of the road after facing court again.
Chaye Anne Louise Connelly pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, August 23 to two counts of driving without a licence and one count of contravening a direction or requirement from a police officer.
The court heard Connelly, 30, had a history of similar traffic offending and was caught in January using her mobile phone while driving.
In Dutton Park on a date between May 15 and 21, Connelly was pulled over by police and found to be driving without a licence.
She also failed to hand over the required information to the officers.
Magistrate Ron Kilner said the mother of two’s driving record was disgraceful.
“Your traffic history is nothing short of appalling,” he said.
“Don’t you understand you can’t use a mobile phone while driving a motor vehicle.
“You seem to have a very limited respect for the rules of the road.”
The court heard Connelly had made an effort to rehabilitate herself and was completing a law degree at university.
The Gold Coast influencer had over 130,000 followers on social media app Instagram and also worked at a popular car wrapping company.
Mr Kilner said driving without a licence not only affected the driver but other innocent bystanders.
“When you drive a car without a licence, you have no insurance so if you hit someone you cant help them.
“It’s not just about you, drivers have a right to feel safe on the roads.
“I won't impose a period of imprisonment today but if you come back you may be at risk.”
Connelly’s drivers licence was disqualified for six months and she was fined $1000.
