A Beaudesert teen accused of the attempted murder of her grandmother in May has had her case heard again in court, as new details emerge.

Bella-Rose Currie Shields, 19 allegedly stabbed her 63-year-old grandmother Carolyn Shields on May 17 in Beaudesert.

Police alleged she stabbed the relative in the torso and the alleged victim was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with internal injuries which required surgery.

Ms Shields did not appear in person in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 26 as her matters were mentioned.

The court heard she was under involuntary treatment at a mental health facility.

Defence lawyer Jacilynn Young said a brief of evidence was disclosed on July 19 and there were two outstanding police officer statements required.

“Medical records are also still outstanding and Legal Aid funding has been granted for a psychiatric assessment,” she said.

“There are also numerous information requests which may take some months.”

Magistrate Cameron McKenzie adjourned the matter to October 18 in Beenleigh Magistrates Court.
