Beaudesert stabbing: Woman, 19, charged with attempted murder

New details have emerged surrounding the alleged attempted murder of a 63-year-old woman south of Brisbane overnight — with a teen facing court today accused of stabbing her own grandmother.

A teenager charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her grandmother has faced court in Logan.

Bella-Rose Currie Shields, 19, faced Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Wednesday, May 17, charged with the attempted murder (domestic violence) of her 63-year-old grandmother Carolyn Shields.

It is understood Carolyn Shields is fighting for her life following the alleged stabbing at Beaudesert early Wednesday morning.

Police allegedly found the 63-year-old woman with a stab wound to her torso at a house on Eaglesfield Street about 1am.

She was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition with internal injuries and is undergoing surgery.

Howden Saggers lawyer Zane Chapman represented Bella-Rose Currie Shields in court this morning before Magistrate Mark Howden.

Mr Chapman asked to order a brief of evidence but questioned his client Ms Shield’s current capacity to give instructions.

Ms Shields, who remained in the watch house and did not appear in person, was remanded in custody. The matter will next be mentioned in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on July 5.
