An unemployed Logan father’s plan to move west and seek work in the mines has come unstuck after he was arrested and charged by police with robbery in company with two others.
Yarrabilba man Dwayne William Batten, 28, was arrested and charged by officers of the Beenleigh Criminal Investigation Branch yesterday, spending the night in the watch house before today’s court appearance.

He and two co-accused are alleged by police to have robbed Ian Leslie Young at a caravan in Beenleigh on September 13, some three weeks ago, with police claiming a vehicle was stolen.
The court heard Mr Batten, who has an 11-page criminal history, was on parole, which he entered into on March 20, at the time of the alleged offence.
He came to police attention yesterday after police attended a “minor vehicle crash”, the court heard.
Defence lawyer John Ide told the court there was some conjecture as to exactly what happened inside the caravan.
“The sum total of my client’s alleged involvement appears to be standing watch over the victim and commenting that he should not contact police, a comment he denies,” Mr Ide said.
“His involvement appears to be very limited.”
Mr Ide told the court at this early stage, it was unclear to him “whether there was actually a robbery (which took place)”.
Batten’s bail was refused after it was determined he was an “unacceptable risk of reoffending or interfering with witnesses”.
The charge will be mentioned again on November 25.
