A data manager at Queensland Health drank at least seven schooners of beer on the Sunshine Coast before attempting to drive himself all the way back on the Gold Coast, a court has heard.

Ormeau man Daniel Kristopher Kryszkiewicz, 30, was charged with a single count of high-range drink driving for the August 9 offence.

Beenleigh Magistrates Court heard Kryszkiewicz was witnessed by police around 2am driving erratically on Buderim Ave, Alexandra Headland, before he was pulled over on Kawana St.

Breath analysis revealed a blood-alcohol content of 0.211 per cent, more than four times the legal limit.

He told police he drank seven schooners between 3 – 9pm and was attempting to get home, the court heard.

Kryszkiewicz was previously convicted of drink-driving in November last year for an incident occurring last July.

He was fined $1000 and disqualified for three months on that occasion.

Magistrate Clare Kelly said his “significantly high reading, quick reoffending” and the “significant distance” he attempted to drive all counted against him.

“You can only be grateful police stopped you when they did,” she said.

Kryszkiewicz was placed on 12 months’ probation and disqualified from driving for 12 months.

A conviction was recorded.
