A GIANT high-end townhouse estate will be built at The Lanes, as the Sunland-created site continues to expand.
Southport-based housing estate developer Roycorp, headed by Royce Blackburne, has unveiled plans for 57 two- and three-storey houses on the southern side of the $1.3bn Mermaid Waters mini-city after completion of the remaining two towers and a shopping centre.
They will be built in a series of blocks, with five to 11 houses in each and front onto Unity Lake facing the towers and shopping centre.
The project is expected to be built in stages over a number of years.
It will go before the Gold Coast City Council planning committee for approval later in 2023.
The 14,446sq m Roycorp site neighbours 2.2ha of land bought in 2021 from Sunland by Gold Coast Titans Darryl Kelly and car dealership kingpin Brett Frizelle.
Mr Frizelle is the husband of Mr Kelly’s fellow Titans co-owner and former Sunland board member Rebecca Frizelle.
The Lanes precinct is a hub of activity as Sunland puts the finishing touches to its Lanes Residences towers, the developer’s final outstanding project.
Meanwhile, Panthera Group is preparing to break ground on its $82m shopping centre, the Lanes Retail Resort.
Plans are also before council for The Skin Centre, an exclusive hospital specialising in skincare surgeries.
It will be led by director and well-known dermatologist Dr Andrew Freeman, who will build the state-of-the-art facility, the first of its kind in Queensland.
Construction will begin in the first half of 2023.
