Keep Moving Coach: Winning the rental race

Rents have increased again in 252 Queensland suburbs, reversing the brief downward trend recorded just three months ago.

The latest PropTrack Quarterly Rent Report shows that tenants are paying up to 15 per cent more now than they were at the end of June.

Back then, the same report recorded median rent falls in 236 suburbs during the June quarter, saving some tenants over $100 a week.

But that reprieve was short-lived, with rents trending up again for house renters in 252 suburbs, and for unit renters in 139 suburbs.

It comes after the PropTrack Market Insight Report recently revealed that the national vacancy rate fell for the third consecutive month in September, dropping 0.06 percentage points to just 1.34 per cent.

There are now 46 per cent fewer rental vacancies nationally than there were in March 2020.
